verve in action came about when jazmyn and heather bonded after meeting through a mutual connection and finding a mutual passion around girls and women empowerment.

Desire to empower girls through sports inspired learning and experiences to live out their dreams. In particular to increase opportunities to less empowered communities and breakdown barriers to entry in sports. They also believe strongly in increasing the opportunities for women in sports when it comes to play, pay and primetime!

Jazmyn Jackson is a professional softball player from San Jose, CA. She’s currently participating in Athletes Unlimited, a new sports league that focuses on women in underrepresented sports and champions for parity in professional sports across all genders.

Within this league, Jazmyn is also a member of the Player Executive Committee and Racial Equity Working Group. When she graduated with a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, Jazmyn’s plan was to join the workforce and leave her passion for sports behind. She loved the industry but struggled with the gender disparities she faced as a female athlete. With her passions and expertise in business, activism, and sports, Jazmyn has found a way to integrate all three.

In her work with Athletes Unlimited, she’s pushing for societal and intersectional change within the country by consulting on addressing these issues and encouraging justice at a higher-level. In her work with VIA, she uplifts and creates opportunities for young girls in the Bay Area to be exactly who they want to be.

after graduating from San Diego State University with her master’s degree in accountancy, Heather Lambert started her career as a CPA at Deloitte. From there she dipped her toes in the recruiting world before beginning a long stint as a human resources executive at The Clorox Company.

While not necessarily planned, her diverse jobs background was full of tremendous opportunities she believes has brought her to this point. At VIA, she can do something she loves and live a life on purpose.

In her free time, Heather volunteered for a local girls softball league. It was there that she witnessed firsthand how girls grew their confidence and resilience through participation in team sports. One of her greatest joys has been watching the girls — including her two daughters — grow into confident, successful young women through sports as a platform.

Through VIA, Heather aims to provide girls the tools and skills necessary to go after what they want in life. Working with inspiring women doing what they love is a bonus of her latest career endeavor.

Seeing girls in action and watching them rise to their full potential, she knew she found her passion: helping other young women and girls find theirs.
